Image to Text (OCR)

Extract text from images, screenshots and scanned documents with free OCR. Supports English, Korean, Japanese, Chinese and more — even several languages at once. Copy the result or save it as a .txt file. Your image is never uploaded.

Languages in the image Select one or more.

🔒 The OCR engine and language data (about 2–15 MB per language) download once from a public CDN, then stay cached. Your image is never uploaded — recognition runs in your browser.

Tip: you can also paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V / ⌘V.

How it works

  1. Pick the language(s) in the image — you can select more than one.
  2. Choose or drop a JPG, PNG or WebP image. Recognition starts right away and shows its progress.
  3. Check the text, fix anything that’s off, then copy it or save it as a .txt file.

FAQ

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. Recognition runs entirely in your browser. The only download is the OCR engine and language data, fetched once from a public CDN and then cached.

Why is the first run slower?

Each language needs a data file (about 2–15 MB) the first time. After that it is cached by your browser, so later runs start much faster.

How can I get more accurate results?

Use a sharp, well-lit image with straight text, crop away unrelated parts, and select only the languages that actually appear. Printed text works much better than handwriting.

Can it read Korean or Japanese mixed with English?

Yes. Select both languages (for example Japanese + English) and they are recognized together.
