Video to GIF Converter

Turn part of an MP4, MOV or WebM video into an animated GIF. Choose the start, length, size and frame rate. Free, no watermark, and the video stays in your browser.

How it works

  1. Drop a video into the box, or click to choose one.
  2. Set the start time and length (up to 20 seconds) — or pause the video where you want to begin and click “Start from current position”. Pick the width and frame rate.
  3. Click “Make GIF”. The GIF downloads automatically and a preview appears below.

FAQ

Is my video uploaded?

No. Frames are captured and encoded into a GIF inside your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.

How do I make the GIF smaller?

GIF size grows with width × frame rate × length. For chat and social posts, 320–480 px at 10 fps for a few seconds is usually a good balance.

Why do colors look a bit grainy?

GIF can only show 256 colors per frame, so smooth gradients in video get simplified. That’s a limit of the GIF format itself.

Which video formats work?

Anything your browser can play: MP4 (H.264), WebM and most MOV files. Some HEVC/H.265, MKV or AVI files may not open in every browser.
